Nirmalan (Nirm) Nagulendran is a seasoned trial attorney who focuses his practice on family law litigation. Over the past 26 years, he has successfully argued hundreds of cases involving custody, equitable distribution and support.

 

Mr. Nagulendran has also taken numerous cases to trial and has consistently obtained favorable results for his clients. His caseload often includes high conflict disputes involving domestic violence, child abuse and parental alienation. He routinely addresses novel legal issues such as palimony and constructive trusts. In 2019, he was named Hudson County Family Lawyer of the Year.

Mr. Nagulendran is well-versed in all areas of divorce law, including matters involving high-net worth individuals. Over the course of two and a half decades, he has handled highly sophisticated financial disputes including "above guidelines" support, business appraisals and income stream analyses. He is privileged to have an extremely diverse clientele. As such, he has also developed an expertise on issues involving Islamic Mahr agreements and Hindu dowry disputes.

Mr. Nagulendran has extensive appellate experience as well. Over the years, he authored numerous briefs involving civil, criminal, family and constitutional law issues. He recently changed New Jersey law by convincing the Appellate Division that the 8th Amendment applies to pension forfeitures in the state of New Jersey. Mr. Nagulendran ultimately addressed this issue before the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Mr. Nagulendran has also been involved with various civil and chancery court matters including landlord-tenant disputes, partitions, joint ventures, commercial debt, ejectments and trademark infringement.

​When he is not practicing law, Nirm (as he is often called) enjoys international travel, visiting local museums, doing the New York Times Crossword Puzzle and, most of all, spending time with family.
