Government Relations

Governmental rules and regulations can be the key to business success…or an obstacle a client needs to overcome. At all levels of government (including independent regulatory agencies and commissions), Schumann Hanlon helps clients make the best use of programs and contacts within the various levels (and layers) of government, and, helps to minimize what is perceived to be governmental interference. We have substantial experience in all phases of the legislative and administrative process, including drafting legislation and regulations and have served in elected and appointed public offices at the federal, state and local levels as well as in senior executive capacities for a host of government agencies. We also have experience in government procurement issues including securing government grants and contracts and the delivery of services. Schumann Hanlon attorneys represent clients before various and numerous departments of local, county and state governmental and independent agencies, authorities, boards, and commissions. We have practiced for decades before the New Jersey Departments of Environmental Protection, and Department of Community Affairs. We have considerable experience with issues related to the New Jersey Highway Access Code, Waterfront Development Permits, and programs assisting companies wishing to expand in or relocate to New Jersey. We draft regulations and prepare comments on proposed regulatory actions impacting our clients and have suggested and created creative public-private partnerships to agencies interested in exploring initiatives available only to private enterprise.
