Environmental Matters
Sophisticated developers and property owners see environmental issues as a roadblock and a budget busting cost that can slow down or simply stop a project. Our lawyers assist other environmental professionals to find ways to comply with environmental laws and regulations, and to deal with regulators and the public in a cost effective manner. We put environmental laws to work so that projects move toward completion while maintaining feasibility and “bottom line” profitability.
To address environmental matters, owners and developers use our many years of expertise in Brownfields redevelopment (that began before the term was coined), as well as our experience in regulatory compliance and permitting, land use, insurance, and government relations. After adoption of New Jersey’s, 1993, Industrial Site Recovery Act (“ISRA”) ever more complicated environmental issues have became critical to literally every real property related transaction. We guide clients through the process of complying with all state and federal environmental laws, and satisfying conditions of project financers relative to same. To make projects more marketable we use our “LEED” knowledge of green building rating systems for measuring sustainable buildings and “best” development practices.
